WELCOME

TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

What's it all about?

This project involves making a painting/drawing/collage, or whatever, every day for 30 days. NO forward planning. The same time of day, same place, same size, same range of materials depending on project variables. Exhibit the project.

I am hoping, at some point, to do another 30 in 30 project, but that is on hold for the moment.

Rainforest

Rainforest
51cm x 76cm
Acrylic using palette knife (mainly)

This is a larger version of 'The Canopy' - one of the 30 paintings in 30 days series.
I decided to do a series of larger paintings and this one was done in Mallorca whilst on holiday with my family.

Waterfall

Waterfall
40.7cm x 51cm (16in x 20in)

After setting up my easel two days ago, I still had no idea what to paint, so on went the background and hey presto!! I enjoy the 'not knowing what the hell I'm going to paint' feeling.
It has been a long time since my last post and I am still concentrating on the hairdressing course, but I hope as I get to grips with it more, I will be able to find the odd moment to splash paint about again - I miss it.

Current bits n bobs!

Hi All,
I haven't posted for awhile, but I am working on a few pieces whilst training as a hairdresser in London - hence the lack of work posted recently. There should be a post in the next week or so.

A Moonlit Night

Acrylic on ply
34 x 11.5cm
Just a quick pic today on a long thin piece of board, a slight variation from yesterday's one and the prelim to another coming soon. Beginning to run out of paint, so may have to do some pastels/water-colours again until I manage to stock up!!

Roof Tops

23cm x 30.5cm
Acrylic on Canvas

This was originally a different piece of work that I began recently, but it turned out to be not as great as I was expecting so I turned it into rooftops by moonlight instead. Quite abstract with a couple of pusscats thrown in for good measure.

Kite Surfing, Tarifa, Spain

SOLD

34cm x 16cm

Acrylic on plywood

After a brief but fab visit to the most southernly tip of Spain, I felt inspired by the area to do the above painting. There is an almost constant wind in Tarifa and because of this it is one of the worlds best places to go kite surfing. There were hundreds of kite surfers flying over the waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

"Tarifa has two prevailing winds, the south easterly known as the Levante and the westerly known as the Poniente. This is because of the mountain ranges on either side of the straits which not only bends other winds but also acts as a funnel, intensifying it. " http://www.tarifa.net/site/html/wind/main_wind.html?lingua=02&percorso=3&livello=302

The water was wonderful - once you were in!! and great fun jumping the waves. You can see Morrocco from Tarifa and also the Atlas Mountains of North Africa. Morrocco is only 14KM from Tarifa and takes 30 mins by ferry.

What happens next???

I have now completed two projects - paintings/drawings & it's a really great feeling to know I have now completed these. I am going to continue but with a difference for awhile...

... I am currently doing some training which is taking quite a lot of time & thought up. We are also trying to find somewhere else to live among many other plans, therefore, I have decided to continue with my artwork but on a different scale. I am going to make a start on some pieces I have wanted to do for some time so there will not be a post everyday. I have no idea how often I will post but please keep checking back. I will try for at least one per week, but don't hold your breath, some of the pieces I wish to do are going to take quite some time to implement. Thank you to all of you who have been keeping up with my projects. STAY TUNED...

Midday Meditation

31cm x 19cm
Pastel & pen

This is the LAST ONE! in the second '30 paintings in 30 days' project. Today we decided to have a bit of fun with Colin (my partner). I decided I wanted to do one of him meditating in his new reading glasses! Instead of the usual jeans & t-shirt he was wearing I drew him in a bright orange kaftan (artistic licence!). I have to say this one is not a great likeness of him but not far off and it was great fun to do.
